The Lotta Crabtree Fountain was given to the beautiful city of San Francisco by one its famous entertainer, an entertainer named Lotta Crabtree. This is why this historic fountain was named after her.
The Lotta Crabtree Fountain is located at the heart of downtown San Francisco, located in the pedestrian island on the northeast corner of Geary, Market and the Keary Street. The Lotta Crabtree Fountain is known as the oldest surviving monument in San Francisco, and it has survived an earthquake that occurred during 1906. The Lotta Crabtree Fountain is also one of the few remaining structures that you will find in Market Street and the Lotta Crabtree Fountain also became the central meeting place for the San Franciscans.
However, the Lotta Crabtree Fountain did not have a pleasing history unlike the Lotta Crabtree. The Lotta Crabtree Fountain has received a lot of criticism, there was even a criticism that says, the Lotta Crabtree Fountain is an unaesthetic monstrosity and it is the ugliest monument in the city of San Francisco, some even considered the Lotta Crabtree Fountain as a pile of bronze that was painted and it does not have the beauty and the charm.
But, the Lotta Crabtree Fountain has a great history behind it; the Lotta Crabtree Fountain became a gathering place for people who have survived during the 1906 earthquake in San Francisco. This is also the reason why every year a commemoration is being done in the Lotta Crabtree Fountain; this commemoration is being done at 15:12 am every 18th of April with the intersection.
