Ross Fountain
The astonishing fountain that you are looking at is the Ross Fountain it is known as an ornate iron outdoor water fountain that originated from around the mid-19th Century it is an astonishing water fountain that is located at the west end of Princes Street Gardens in Edinburgh. The figures that we see depicted on the fountain are frictional characters that include mermaids and it also has four females that symbolize science, the arts, poetry, and the industry. The final female figure was placed at the apex of this amazing fountain.
During the early 1860’s, the Ross Fountain was later on displayed at The Great Exhibition in London in 1862, at that time it was then seen by a philanthropist and at the same time a gun-maker Daniel Ross, after seeing this amazing fountain on display he then bought it for the City of Edinburgh. I’m not that much familiar about the country Switzerland, but what do I know are the good things I’ve heard about this country. I’ve read a book regarding the things happening to the Switzerland as a country where I found out that this country utilizes discipline staring from the government down to the citizens living in the country. There are a lot of good things about Switzerland hat made me interested in knowing the country more.
Well, this is the reason why I started browsing the internet to know more about Switzerland and knowing what the beautiful places are for a tourist like me to visit. So, I keyed in the word Switzerland on a search engine and voila! It has given me a lot of results. As I open each every link about the country, I was amazed that it is blessed with a lot of wonderful tourist destinations. As I go through the remaining links for the topic, an image caught my attention, a water fountain. Being a fountain lover, I immediately opened the link and found out that this is a large water fountain found in the city of Geneva, a city in Switzerland.
The fountain is called the Jet d'Eau (Water-Jet) I’ve learned that this amazing water fountain is actually one of the city's most famous landmarks. As this water feature brought an honor for the city, it became a feature on the city's official tourism web site and a logo for the 2008 UEFA World Cup.
9-11 Memorial Fountain

Walter J. Blackburn Memorial Fountain
The water fountain you are looking at in this picture is actually a gift to the citizens of London from the Blackburn estate; it was given by the late Marjorie Blackburn to the people of London in memory of her husband Walter J. Blackburn. Her Worship Mayor Anne Marie DeCicco of London even said that it is the best gift she has received from Richard Costley-White. Richard Costley-White is actually the grandson of Marjorie Blackburn. During the unveiling of this amazing water fountain, other members of the Blackburn family were in attendance that includes the offspring of Walter and Marjorie Blackburn’s namely Susan Blackburn, the sister of the late Martha Blackburn, who was Mr. Costley-White’s mother.
Little that we know that the name of Blackburn in the fountain is actually a name that is synonymous with London; this is because of the founder of the first daily newspaper released in London, and that is the London Free Press. Josiah Blackburn was the person behind the establishment of the London Free Press for more than 150 years ago.
The design of the Walter J. Blackburn Memorial Fountain that we are looking at began in 2005 and it has even spanned two years, the construction of fountain was actually completed in 2008. The design was actually modeled after the famous jet d’Eau, another famous fountain found in Geneva, Switzerland. It has a one large jet that could propel water in about 30 meters high and it also has six smaller jets.
